Session Description

This presentation will present a study to test and optimize design strategies prior to facility construction. The study follows several parallel themes. First, a robust evaluation of signage and wayfinding systems in an acute care hospital using virtual immersion (VR) and biometric data to provide rigorous human response testing prior to construction. Second, the validity of virtual immersion (VR) and biometric data as a tool to evaluate human response to environmental stimulus during the design stage of a project, including an understanding of cost, logistics and return on investment. See how this this approach can fill an important gap in current design practice.
