As a world-class leader in cancer diagnosis, treatment, and research, UT MD Anderson Cancer Center sought to reimagine how they deliver outpatient oncology care. Through a highly collaborative design process that explored the patient, staff, and faculty experience, a prototype for future outpatient facilities was developed. To understand whether these design strategies have improved performance outcomes, the healthcare organization invested in a systematic investigation of three newly completed facilities. This session highlights their journey and commitment to inform future outpatient oncology environments from the design and development of a new prototype to testing its functional performance through post-occupancy evaluation.
