When have you heard patients beg not to be moved from ICU to stepdown? This case study from the Cleveland Clinic main campus will demonstrate how carefully implemented project priorities resulted in an ICU that is effective in improving patient and staff satisfaction. The presenters will focus on the use of integrated booms, sound masking and noise reducing systems, and circadian rhythm lighting and daylighting to improve the patient experience. Results are demonstrated with a post-occupancy evaluation and comparison between the existing ICU units. The Center for Health Design ICU checklists provided a framework for the team to prioritize and implement project goals.
