Medical University of South Carolina’s (MUSC) Children’s Ambulatory Campus accommodates young patients for both ongoing clinic appointments and lower-acuity interventions within an easily accessible, welcoming context. Designed for flexibility and future expansion, the campus houses most of the hospital’s pediatric ambulatory care functions in a neighborhood setting. The efficient design includes shared spaces, multifunctional clinics, and a flexible clinic pod arrangement. MUSC’s “patients and family first” approach strengthens its Children’s Health brand through multiple design elements from patient and family input to signage design to wayfinding. The facility will open in spring 2019, and participants will hear first reports post occupancy.
