As the Healthcare industry transitions from a fee-for-service to value-based model, how can architects be at the forefront of designing buildings that can effectively address population health needs and harness the wealth of data available? Working with one of the largest public health systems in the country, SmithGroup translated data points into a model of care and building program for a replacement hospital that addresses the uncertainty and evolving needs of Chicago’s South Side community. This session illustrates how the team synthesized national, state, county, and city data to create a comparison model for design of the hospital based around population health needs.
