Orlando Health challenged the HKS design team to develop a modular, adaptable, standardized health campus prototype that can be right-sized for both an emerging suburban community as well as an established urban community. This panel will share the process of designing and implementing a five-phased, templated health campus design, adaptable for 15 to 50 acre sites and scale-able from an initial 14-room freestanding ED to a 240-bed full service hospital. Progressive, virtual, and foam construction mock-ups allowed for scenario testing and the final construction mock-up tested maintainability and sustainability of the finishes. The comprehensively tested, prototypical approach ensures consistent brand implementation, and can be rapidly deployed without compromising quality of construction.
