Matthew State MD, PhD is a child and adolescent psychiatrist and human geneticist, and current Oberndorf Family Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry, Chair of the Department of Psychiatry, Executive Director of the UCSF Child Teen and Family Center, Director of the Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute, and member of the Weill Institute for Neurosciences at the UCSF. Under Dr. State’s leadership, UCSF has pioneered and is opening one of the nation’s first facilities that co-locates mental health research and patient care, with the goal of accelerating understanding, prevention and treatment of mental illness for patients of all ages.
