Track:Advancements in Evidence-Based Design Research
This session shares findings and design recommendations for pediatric clinic settings based on a mixed-method assessment of design guidelines applied at two primary care facilities. Researchers applied on-site activity mapping, space syntax, interviews, and surveys to understand the impact of physical environment attributes on outcomes of interest. Their findings suggest an important relationship between physical environment qualities and communication, interaction, visibility, accessibility, and efficiency outcomes relevant to pediatric clinic settings. Presenters will share findings and recommendations for pediatric clinic design, as well as methodology and metrics that can be successfully applied to holistically evaluate the performance of design guidelines.
