HCD Expo & Conference cancels November event

After closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and consulting our community partners and supporters, the team behind the Healthcare Design (HCD) Expo & Conference, the leading tradeshow and conference for the healthcare design industry, has officially decided to cancel the event, scheduled for November 7-10, 2020, at Music City Center in Nashville.

Recent developments have made it impossible to bring our community together safely and successfully. This is due to the ongoing progression of the COVID-19 pandemic in the U.S., including the latest government data, measures, and guidelines on the phased reopening plans in the U.S.; current restrictions on congregating and large gatherings imposed by states and other government and public health authorities; and the various company-imposed travel restrictions on employees, affecting attendees and participating companies.

“We are disappointed that we are unable to bring everyone together this fall as we know how much everyone looks forward to seeing and learning from each other,” said Kevin Gaffney, Group Show Director, HCD Expo, and VP, Emerald. “But we believe this was the right decision to make for the health and wellness of the community.”

Since meeting in person is not possible, HCD Expo & Conference is in the midst of planning a virtual conference. Set for November 9-12, 2020, the online event will offer a range of CEU-accredited sessions on critical and top-of-mind topics, many of which were planned for the live show. More details will be announced soon and updated regularly at HCDexpo.com and healthcaredesignmagazine.com.

“The healthcare industry is currently at the center of the COVID-19 pandemic, and we are proud to serve this hardworking community,” said Kristin Zeit, Publisher of Healthcare Design magazine. “We remain committed to finding ways to connect our brands, designers, and manufacturers both in person and digitally, and to provide our audience with up-to-date insight and solutions as they create environments where people can find comfort, safety, and the care they need.”

Healthcare Design Expo & Conference 2021 is scheduled for October 23-26, 2021, in Cleveland, Ohio.

The Healthcare Design Conference + Expo is an annual conference focused exclusively on the design of hospital and clinic environments. The educational program is driven by industry experts who share case studies, research, best practices, and new approaches throughout the three-day learning experience.

To create the annual program, a call for presentations is opened, with submissions selected via a rigorous review process. All conference sessions must qualify for continuing education units, with four distinct learning objectives and one hour of content delivered.

The Center for Health Design is HCD's educational partner for the conference and manages the call for presentation process. Follow the link below to view the form on The Center’s website and submit a presentation proposal.

Top-of-mind topics for sessions include but are not limited to: patient safety and satisfaction, ambulatory care, remodeling, renovation and conversions, impact of technology, clinical perspectives, the high-performance hospital and sustainable practices, design for wellness, innovations in facility planning and management, design challenges and solutions, specialty facilities and departments (i.e., oncology, pediatrics, behavioral health, OR, ED), strategies for financing and operations, international trends and practices, and projects and initiatives that advance equality and social justice.
